Aya Taira statement


Taira’s observations in everyday life, highlights changing landscapes, environments and surroundings. She finds problems and also humour in our contemporary living.

She often works with books and paper and cutting them out into shapes of landscapes, cityscapes, layering them to create new environment.
In conjunction with the fragility of her work, she places her work in solid architectural site.

Taira is communicating on nature and ever-changing surroundings through subtle and delicate installations in conflicting contexts.
